Eyosyas is a cheerful five-year-old boy from Ethiopia who loves playing with his older sister, watching cartoons, and spending time with his family. He lives with his parents and older sister. His father works as a daily laborer in construction, while his mother cares for the family. When Eyosiyas was still a baby, his mother noticed that something was different about his body. She was advised by a doctor to wait and observe. Four years later, his mother's concerns returned after a relative sent her a photo of her cousin's son, who was the same age as Eyosiyas. Comparing the two boys' development, she questioned whether Eyosiyas's condition was normal. She took him back to the health center for another examination. Eyosyas was diagnosed with cryptorchidism, a condition in which one or both of the testicles remain undescended. If left untreated, Eyosyas has an increased risk of developing hernias, testicular cancer, and fertility problems in the future. Eyosyas was referred to our medical partner's care center, BethanyKids Myungsung Christian Medical Centre, and will undergo surgery on July 24th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $754 to cover the cost of his procedure and care. Eyosiyas's mother shared, "I am so happy to be here and to have this opportunity for my son. As a parent, I never imagined we would receive such high-quality care free of charge. Aisan is a one-month-old baby boy from Tanzania. He is the youngest of two children. His parents are farmers who grow maize for household consumption and sell the surplus at the local market to earn income and meet their family’s needs. Aisan was born with clubfoot on both feet, a condition in which both feet are twisted inward. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. The tissues connecting the muscles to the bones are shorter than usual, and this causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. His parents were concerned about his condition and the challenges he might face in the future. Aisan is scheduled to begin treatment through manipulation and serial casting. He will subsequently undergo a tenotomy procedure to help improve foot alignment. Through this treatment, Aisan will have an opportunity to develop with properly aligned feet, allowing him to wear shoes and walk comfortably as he grows. Fortunately, Aisan's family traveled to visit our medical partner's care center, Kafika House. Surgeons will begin clubfoot treatment on October 28th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $341 to fund Aisan's clubfoot repair. After treatment, he will have a better chance to enjoy childhood activities and pursue his dreams without the limitations associated with untreated clubfoot. “We are grateful that Aisan was identified early and given a chance for treatment. We hope he will grow up healthy and walk comfortably like other children,” says Aisan's mother.

Lucy is 45 years old and a mother of two from Malawi. She sells second-hand clothes to support her husband, who is a mechanic. Eight months ago, Lucy started to experience heavy bleeding that was associated with weakness and dizziness. She has been diagnosed with uterine fibroids and needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,363 to fund Lucy's surgery. On July 1st, she will undergo gynecological surgery at our medical partner's care center, Partners in Hope Medical Center. Once recovered, Lucy will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain. Lucy shared, "I am very worried, as my condition makes me very weak day by day; your support will be very appreciated as it will save my life from danger."
