On is a 61-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She has one son, one daughter, and five grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoys joining the ceremony at the local pagoda and listening to the monks pray on the radio.
Two years ago, On developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurry vision and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When On learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for four and a half hours seeking treatment. On December 23rd, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure.
"I hope that after my surgery, I will be able to return to the rice fields and help my daughter," On shared.
