Hannah is a 42-year-old woman from Kenya. She is a single mother of three children. She relies on part-time salon work to support her family.
About a year ago, Hannah began to experience troubling symptoms, including hoarseness of voice, and later noticed a swelling in her neck, which has progressively increased in size. She sought medical attention at our medical partner’s care center, Nazareth Hospital, where she underwent an ultrasound scan and thyroid function tests. She was diagnosed with multinodular goiter, the swelling of the thyroid gland. If left untreated, the swelling may continue to grow and could lead to serious complications. She needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Hannah receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on June 15th. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $633, and she and her family need help raising money.
Hannah said, “I need help, but was a bit unsure about the program because of asking ID Card. But after explaining, I am convinced and hope to get the sponsorship so that I can be treated to be able to continue serving my kids.”
