Meet Rooda, a determined 16-year-old young woman from Somaliland. “Rooda has had a club foot since birth,” explains our medical partner, Edna Adan Hospital (EAH). “This has caused her to have issues mobilizing.”
Rooda experiences bullying because of her foot, but she has not let this hold her back from attending school nor taking on more responsibilities in her own home. Though she works hard in spite of her mobility challenges, Rooda shares with EAH that she looks forward to feeling like a “normal” girl.
For $790, we can fund club foot repair surgery and follow-up care that will improve Rooda’s mobility and self-esteem. Let’s help Rooda continue her studies free from bullying and mobility challenges!

Rooda received surgery to correct clubfoot.
“The operation was a success and Rooda is now able to walk unaided,” says our medical partner, Edna Adan Hospital. “Rooda attended a follow up rehabilitation program and currently wears a leg brace to prevent relapse. She has made great progress in recent months and now walks with increasing confidence. The surgery received was truly transformational.”
They continue, “Since the operation it’s as if a new chapter of life has begun. Daily life is so much easier now. Rooda really appreciates the support received, without which the surgery could never have happened.”
