Angela is a one-year-old girl who lives with her older brother and parents in Tanzania. The family lives near a farm, on which they work. While farming, her parents harvest rice, beans, and maize. Angela is fascinated with planes and likes to play with toy planes. Angela’s mother hopes that Angela will become a pilot when she grows up.
Angela was recently diagnosed with a post-burn flexion contracture in her right foot and ankle. A contracture is a shortening and hardening of muscles. She also has a contracture of the fifth toe of her right foot. In order to treat Angela’s condition, our medical partner, Mission Restore, has scheduled a contracture release and an application of a skin graft for March 31. A amputation of the fifth toe of the right foot may also be necessary. Mission Restore is requesting $1,469 to fund the procedure.
