Nathalia is a three-year-old girl from the Philippines. Her father is a motorcycle delivery rider. Her mother stays home to care for Nathalia. Nathalia has a speech impairment and is undergoing speech therapy to prepare her for school.
Nathalia was born with an anorectal malformation, a congenital condition that leads to a complete or partial intestinal blockage. She needs to undergo a series of procedures to eliminate bowel dysfunction. As her parents could not afford the costs of diagnostic tests and surgeries she needed, Nathalia has not completed her treatment to address her condition.
Fortunately, our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP), is helping Nathalia undergo treatment. She is scheduled to undergo surgery to correct her condition on September 25th. A portion of the cost of her treatment is being supported by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and WSFP is raising $1,123 to cover the remaining cost of Nathalia’s procedure and care. After her recovery, Nathalia will no longer experience bowel dysfunction or be at risk of developing health complications in the future.
Nathalia’s mother shared, “We are deeply grateful to the foundation for providing us with the financial assistance we need. I hope you’ll reach more children in need of medical operations like my daughter.”
