“I want to become a mason,” says David. “I am learning from a friend how to work with stone and I hope to get well soon so that I can continue learning.”
Meet David, a 30-year-old father from Kenya who has a fractured jaw. “David is not able to chew his food well,” our partner African Mission Healthcare Foundation (AMHF) tells us. “If the surgery is not done soon, David could develop an infection.”
David is married and has two children. David and his nine siblings live with their parents on a small farm. “David has planted vegetables and earns some extra money from working their neighbor’s farms. Last week, David got into an argument with a man and it resulted in a fist fight. David has not been able to raise the full cost of treatment,” continues AMHF.
For $660, we can heal David’s broken jaw and allow him to return working on his farm to support his family. AMHF concludes, “We expect that after the surgery, David will no longer be in pain and he will continue learning about masonry so that he can achieve his dream.”
