Moo is a 58-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her two daughters in Mae Sot, Tak Province, Thailand. They moved to Thailand because there was a military airstrike in her village in 2023. In late July, while Moo was collecting vegetables, she fell and broke her left wrist. Due to financial challenges, she did not go to the hospital right away. She cannot grab or squeeze things. She cannot cook or do her own laundry. With the help of our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, Moo will undergo surgery to reset her fractured bones and ensure proper healing. The procedure is scheduled for October 2nd and will cost $1,500. This procedure will be able to help Moo be able to do her daily tasks again. Moo said, “Only my daughter works, and we depend on her. Her income is just enough to cover daily needs. We do not have extra money to save. When the accident happened, I decided not to get treatment at hospital because I think it will cost a lot and we do not have money. When I find out the cost of the treatment, I was shocked. I have never imaging having that much amount of money. I feel like I am a burden to my children and those who help me with the treatment cost. I asked not to get surgery, but the doctor told me that, if I do not do surgery, my hand cannot grab things. I still want to work and help around with the housework. Yoeut is a 69-year-old retired rice farmer from Cambodia. She is an widow, with two sons, three daughters and 10 grandchildren. She lives with her third daughter who is a rice farmer. In her free time, Yoeut likes to attend ceremonies at the pagoda. About three months ago, Yoeut developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye, so it is like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so is not able to go places on her own. When Yoeut learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On October 14th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery, and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Yoeut is contributing to her treatment but needs to raise an additional $238 for the procedure. She says: "I hope that after surgery my eye will see better, and I won't have to worry about my condition anymore. I look forward to joining the ceremonies, recognizing my relatives, and be able to do housework."

Srey is a 56-year-old construction worker from Cambodia. She is married and lives in Kampot Province with her husband, who also works as a construction worker. They have four children, three of whom are already married. In her free time, she enjoys growing vegetables around her home. On May 29, 2026, Srey was involved in a motor vehicle accident that caused a fracture of her right ankle. She initially received traditional Khmer medicine for approximately three months. However, her condition did not improve, and follow-up X-rays at a private clinic confirmed that the fracture had not healed properly. Her right ankle is deformed and painful, and she experiences numbness over the top of her foot. She currently relies on a walking frame to move around, making it difficult for her to walk normally, perform daily activities, and continue working as a construction worker. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On August 10th, Srey will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will help improve the alignment and stability of her right ankle. Hopefully, it will reduce her pain and numbness, improve her ability to walk, and allow her to return to her daily activities and work more comfortably. She can contribute $50, but needs help raising $550 more for her procedure and care. Srey said, “I hope the treatment will help my ankle heal properly, reduce my pain, and allow me to walk more comfortably again. I want to return to my work and daily activities so I can continue supporting my family.”
