“I am worried about my child’s health,” says Kyenyana’s mother.
Meet Kyenyana, a five-year-old girl from Uganda. She is a nursery school student who likes her teachers very much. She hopes to be a nun in the future.
Kyenyana has an umbilical hernia, which causes her pain and discomfort. An umbilical hernia occurs when a piece of the intestine pushes through the abdominal muscles around the navel.
Without treatment, Kyeyana’s hernia could lead to strangulation of the intestines. Fortunately, she is scheduled to undergo a repair surgery on December 12.
Kyenyana lives with her single mother and one sibling. Her mother runs a secondhand shoe store and uses her income to pay for her children’s education. She needs help to pay for this $249 treatment. She hopes that her daughter will grow up healthy and study well in school.
