Brian is a shy boy, aged one and a half-years-old, from Kenya. Brian was diagnosed with hypospadias at the time he was born. This condition results in the urethra opening not being located at the head of the penis, making it difficult to pass urine.
Brian's parents were advised to seek specialized treatment for him once he turned one year old, and at that time doctors recommended surgery.
His parents want the best for him, and for him to grow up without the effects of his condition. Brian lives with his parents in a one-roomed rental house in Rift Valley, Kenya. Brian’s parents are subsistence farmers with no external source of income. With the little savings they had, they have raised $104 for associated costs with Brian's surgery, but are not to able to fully pay the $700 fee.
If not treated, Brian may suffer urinary tract infections, urine leaks, and possible infertility in the future. Brian will undergo hypospadias repair surgery at BethanyKids Kijabe Hospital, a Watsi partner. After surgery, Brian will be able to pass urine normally, significantly reducing his chance of infection and allowing him to develop normally.
“I have been longing for this time when I can bring my son to access treatment," shares Brian's mother. "The only thing I did not know was how much funds we had to raise, but we tried our best. We will appreciate anyone who donates towards his treatment."
