Maria is a hard-working young girl from Tanzania. She is not only dedicated to her schoolwork, but also to helping her mother run the household. Maria's dream is to become a nurse when she grows up, but she is finding it challenging to complete her work because burn scar contractures (areas of tightened skin) on her left hand and wrist are greatly restricting their function. Maria's parents are small scale farmers who grow onions. Even though there is a good market to sell onions, their land is not large enough to make a big profit. With a family of five children, what they earn barely covers their everyday living expenses. Let's raise the $505 needed for the burn contracture release surgery so Maria can use her left hand again and continue doing well in school!

Karma is a hardworking farmer and carpenter from Nepal. He is happily married, with three sons and a daughter. Karma and his wife raise animals for extra income, but they don't have enough savings to carry them through unexpected situations like the one they are in now. Over a month ago, Karma broke his right hand. The fracture has been a constant source of pain and makes it impossible to use his right hand. Without surgical treatment, Karma's injury could lead to lifelong disability. For just $1,240, we can fund Karma's surgery and allow him to regain use of his right hand so he can continue supporting his family!

Eliudi is a bright sixth grader who lives with his mother in Tanzania. He loves playing soccer with his friends and is doing very well in school. Eliudi says, “When I grow up I want to be a business man and earn lots of money. I’ll take good care of my mom.” Until he becomes that successful business man, Eliudi does his best to help his mother, a nursery school teacher, around the house. However, Eliudi finds it difficult to complete his tasks because a burn scar contracture (or tightened skin) on his right hand prevents him from using his hand freely. A simple surgery to release the tension in his skin could restore his hand’s function. Eliudi's mother can't afford to pay for his surgery, and needs our help to raise the $505 to pay for the operation. Let's work together to help Eliudi regain function of his hand, easing his path to success.

Lekule is a ten-year-old boy from Tanzania who loves science. His father is a guard in a nearby school and his mother is a nursery school teacher. A natural talent and in grade four, few work harder in school than Lekule. Due to residual scar tissue from a bad burn, Lekule doesn't have full use of his right hand. If he could regain use of his hand, Lekule says, “I will study hard so that I can become a pilot in the future," with visible determination. For $505, we can give Lekule full use of his hand by releasing the locked right small finger. This will aid him in school and help him realize his dream to be a pilot.
