Lucia is an adorable three-year-old from Tanzania who loves to play in her neighborhood. She is an active girl, but her legs have been progressively bowing since she started walking, and it's holding her back. Lucia's mother is a tailor and her father is a businessman. They want their daughter to live a normal, healthy life, but they do not make enough money to afford the cost of surgery their daughter needs. Lucia’s parents told our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, "This is our first child and we are surprised by the drastic changes of her legs. We really hope that something can be done to help her as we would like to see her able to walk to school and grow just like other children." Let's raise the $555 needed to help Lucia walk normally!

This is Amkhara, and she's probably the strongest woman you'll hear about all day. Amkhara is 25. She lives in Nepal with her husband and two children. She also has a seizure disorder that, three years ago, resulted in her falling into a fire and badly burning her hand. The burns on Amkhara's hand have turned into tight, constrictive scars (called a burn contracture). The scars make it difficult for her to perform daily activities, even basic ones like eating. Amkhara is also unable to assist her family with any of their labor and farm work. For $1,415 Amkhara can undergo an operation to repair her hand which will return her hand's functionality. Let's help Amkhara regain use of her hand so she can get back to taking care of herself and her family!

Kitumbei is the baby of a large family. His parents are excited for him to start school and make friends like his older brothers and sisters, but a congenital deformity is holding him back. Kitumbei was born with clubfoot, a condition that causes his feet to turn inwards and makes it difficult for him to walk. Because of his condition, Kitumbei walks on the soft skin on the outer edges of his feet. This is extremely painful and prohibits him from walking long distances (to school, for example). Kitumbei lives in Tanzania, one of the poorest countriest in the world. Almost 90% of Tanzania’s population lives on less than $2 a day, and nearly 60% lives on less than $1 a day. Kitumbei’s parents want their son to get the medical care he needs, but they do not have the extra income to contribute to his medical expenses. If we can raise the $500 African Mission Healthcare Foundation needs to cover the cost of Kitumbei’s medical care, we can give this little boy a chance at a normal, healthy life.

Peter is a laid back man who our Medical Partner describes as having a “pleasant sense of humor.” He and his wife have six children. They make a bit of money selling milk from their cow, but they mostly rely on Peter’s tree nursery to generate income. Two years ago, Peter noticed his vision starting to fall off. He was too financially constrained to seek medical attention, so he ignored it. Now, Peter has gone completely blind in his left eye and his right eye is following close behind. His poor vision is making it difficult for him to go into the forest to find seeds for his nursery. One of Peter’s older sons tries to help support the family and keep the younger kids in school by taking odd jobs, but their resources are stretching thin. Doctors at African Mission Healthcare Foundation have diagnosed Peter with cataracts. For $210, they can perform cataract surgery, which they believe will restore his vision. Peter and his family cannot afford the extra medical expense. We hope to cover the cost of his care and let him get back to nurturing his tree nursery.
