"Devindra studies in grade 5 and enjoys trying difficult math problems," Possible tells us about this ten-year-old from Nepal. "He also likes to play volleyball with his friends whenever he has spare time." Recently Devindra met with a small accident while getting groceries. "...he fell on the outstretched right hand," Possible writes. "After this he developed pain and swelling at the wrist. He is not able to move his hand properly due to pain." This means that right now Devindra isn't able to do too many math problems - and is missing a little school, too. "He studies hard and we don't have to pay for his studies because he gets scholarships almost every year," Devindra's father says. By raising $205 to cover the cost of care for Devindra's wrist fracture, we can ensure that this young and intelligent boy continues to earn scholarships, solve math problems, and play as much volleyball as he possibly can.

Ten-year-old Veth is from Cambodia, where he lives with his parents and two siblings. Veth is in the fourth grade in school, and loves playing with toy cars. Recently Veth had an accident, and his family traveled six hours to seek help from our partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC). "Veth broke his femur a month and a half ago, after he fell out of a tree," CSC's doctors write. "He has been in constant pain and cannot walk, run, or play with other children. He is unable to attend school and his parents must spend a lot of their time caring for him." Veth needs surgery to repair his femur, which costs $405. With surgery, Veth is expected to make a full recovery, and be able to walk and play like he used to. Most of all, Veth looks forward to returning to school once his leg has healed.

Elisante is a soft-spoken 11-year-old boy living in Tanzania. A relative took him in after his parents were unable to care for him, but despite his difficult early years, he has big dreams. Our medical partner says he wants “to study hard and later on get into seminary school and become a pastor." Unfortunately, Elisante is sick most of the time because he has Hirschsprung’s disease. Hirschsprung’s disease is a condition that causes his intestines to dilate and the microorganisms from his bowels travel to his tissues, which results in difficulty passing stool and puts him at risk of death from infection. For $1,200, we can pay for Elisante to receive an abdominoperineal pull-through with a colostomy. His doctors believe this will solve his problems with passing stool and eliminate his risk of death. This treatment will provide Elisante with more independence and give him time to focus on studying!

Diego is a lively eight-year-old living in an area in Guatemala that has recently been deeply affected by mudslides. The entire community is currently living in temporary housing with no regular medical care. Diego was born with microtia, or deformed ears. While this does not impact his hearing, it is extremely cosmetically deforming and a source of great embarrassment at his tender age in development. Wuqu’ Kawoq is not charging Diego's family for the procedure to fix his ears. Therefore, they are only asking for $400 from Watsi to cover transportation, lodging, and lab fees. Khin Pa loves to learn and wants to be a teacher when she grows up. Several months ago, she broke her right thigh bone. Unable to walk, Khin Pa stopped attending school. Her parents paid over a day's worth of their combined wages to take her to a clinic. Despite their efforts, she did not receive proper care and has been immobile ever since. Khin Pa needs immediate care to repair her broken leg and the right medication to treat her enlarged lymph nodes. The income her parents earn as carpenters and day laborers is hardly enough to provide for the daily needs of their family of seven, let alone pay the $2,000 needed for Khin Pa's treatment.
