Theara is a clever four-year-old boy from Cambodia. He lives with his parents and younger brother in Prey Veng province. His mom and dad work in construction, while his grandmother cares for him during the day. Theara's favorite things are playing with toy cars and eating fried eggs. Three weeks ago, Theara's grandma noticed he put something from the garden in his nose. She was not able to find the object and assumed he would be fine. Unfortunately, since then Theara has been complaining of pain and has difficulty breathing through his nose. Fortunately, our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), can help. Theara and his family traveled to CSC's care center to receive treatment. On August 16th, surgeons at our CSC's care center will remove the mass from his nose. Theara is able to contribute $37.50 to his care, and CSC is requesting the remaining $273 to fund this procedure. His grandmother shared, "I hope my grandson can not be in pain anymore. I want him to go home and be happy to play with his friends and family."

Doreen is the firstborn in a family of three children, raise by a single mother. She now earns a living through tailoring, which she learned from a friend. One year ago, Doreen began to experience symptoms, including a small painless swelling on her neck, which has grown over time. Currently, she experiences airway obstruction especially while sleeping and when she walks too fast. She can no longer carry a heavy load on her head because of neck pains. In June 2023, Doreen attended a medical camp in Kabale municipal. There, she was diagnosed with a multinodular goiter, or an enlarged thyroid, and was referred to our medical partner's care center Rushoroza Hospital for surgery. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Doreen receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on August 25th at our medical partner's care center. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $333, and she and her family need help raising money. Doreen says, “I want to look and feel normal again through surgery. I pray for a successful surgery. I will continue with tailoring after complete recovery.”

Moe is a nine-year-old girl from Burma who lives with her mother, grandparents, and siblings in a camp for internally displaced people in Burma. She is a student in grade two at the school in the camp. During her free time, Moe enjoys babysitting her younger siblings. On December 6th, while playing in her classroom, Moe fell off a bench and fractured her left forearm. She has been experiencing pain, swelling, and limited mobility in her left forearm ever since. With the help of our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, Moe will undergo surgery to reset her fractured bones and ensure proper healing. The procedure is scheduled for December 8th and will cost $1,500. Moe and her family need your help raising the money to fund her procedure and care. This surgery will not only alleviate her pain but also restore the functionality of her arm. Moe’s grandmother said, "Thank you for helping my granddaughter. Our family is facing financial limitations, and affording her treatment has been challenging. Without your help, I wouldn’t know how to manage to get her treated."

Chech is a 22-year-old farmer who has two sisters and three brothers. She likes to do housework and help her family on the farm. When she was a baby, Chech developed an ear infection. The infection spread to both ears and perforated the tympanic membrane in each. She experiences recurring ear discharge, pain, and hearing loss. Her condition makes her unhappy. Fortunately, Chech learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC) from a relative. She traveled for six hours by taxi to reach CSC for treatment. On October 19, 2016, surgeons performed a myringoplasty in each ear to repair the perforated tympanic membrane and stop the ear discharge and pain. Over time, her hearing will improve. Now, her family needs help to fund this $831 procedure. Chech says, "I hope for the ear discharge to stop and to have good hearing."
