Seh is a 56-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She has five children, four grandchildren, and enjoys watching Khmer and Thai television dramas in her free time. Ten years ago, Seh developed a cataract in each eye, causing her blurry vision, tearing, photophobia, and irritation. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When Seh learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for one and a half hours seeking treatment. On June 11, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $398 procedure. She says, "I hope that after my surgery I am able to see more clearly than before and can return to my family and friends."

Srey is a mother of four from Cambodia. She likes to cook, do housework, and play with her kids in her free time. Four years ago, Srey had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in her left ear to perforate. For this reason, Srey experiences pain, tinnitus, hearing loss, ear discharge. She has a difficult time communicating properly with others. Srey traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On May 6, she will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in her left ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $423 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care. She says, "I hope that after my surgery, my ear will heal and I will be able to hear clearly again."

San is a 54-year-old woman from Cambodia. She has four older brothers and enjoys watching Khmer television dramas in her free time. Three months ago, San developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her vision loss. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When San learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for four hours seeking treatment. On July 11, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure. She says, "I hope that I can see better and recognize my relatives' faces, and be able to go outside on my own."

Tinkamanyire is a small-scale farmer from Uganda. He is married with nine children. Two years ago, Tinkamanyire developed an inguinal hernia. This hernia is causing him pain and discomfort. Fortunately, on May 28, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $219 to fund Tinkamanyire's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. Tinkamanyire says, “Hopefully, I will have a changed life and continue with farming.”

Moeun is a Khmer cake seller from Cambodia. She has four daughters, eleven grandchildren, and enjoys watching Khmer and Thai television dramas in her free time. Two years ago, Moeun developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her cloudy vision and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When Moeun learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for a half hour seeking treatment. On June 10, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure. She says, "I hope that my eye surgery is successful so that I can go anywhere I want to by myself and can continue selling my Khmer cakes."

Thomas is a watchman who takes care of his wife and children from Malawi. For six months, Thomas has had a left inguinal hernia. He experiences a lot of pain, which makes him unable to work. Fortunately, on March 19, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at Nkhoma Hospital, our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, World Altering Medicine, is requesting $334 to fund Thomas's surgery. The requested money pays for supplies, medications, and six nights of hospital stay. He says, "My family is relived that we have found help for surgery through this program. Many, many thanks!"

Stephen is a young boy from Kenya. He was diagnosed with cryptorchidism, a condition in which one or both of the testicles remains undescended. If left untreated, Stephen has an increased risk of developing hernias, testicular cancer, and fertility problems in the future. Stephen will be receiving assistance from our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation (AMHF). Fortunately, he is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on April 15. AMHF is requesting $542 to cover the total cost of his procedure and care. “Please help me because no matter what I do, it would take my husband and I years to raise the needed funds,” says Stephen’s mother.
