Bunthe is a 32-year-old construction worker from Cambodia. In his free time, he likes to help his wife with the housework, watch television, and take care of his three daughters. In February 2019, Bunthe was involved in an accident at work which required the amputation of is left leg. The wound has since not healed properly, and Bunthe experiences pain and discharge near the amputation site. When Bunthe learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On August 8, surgeons at CSC will perform a joint arthrodesis procedure to fuse his left foot and to help make sure his wound heals properly and he will be able to walk without pain. Now, Bunthe needs help to fund this $480 procedure. He says, "I hope that I will be able to walk well without pain like before, and the wound will heal."

Samuel is a man from Kenya. He makes a living working on construction sites. In early July, he fell from a two-story building. X-ray imaging showed a femur fracture thatt requires an implant. It is difficult for him to walk and he is in chronic pain Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner can help. On July 10, Samuel will undergo a fracture repair procedure, called an open reduction and internal fixation. This procedure will help him walk easily again and go back to work once he has fully recovered. Now, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $1,451 to fund this procedure. Samuel says, “I hope that soon I will be able to walk with ease again."

Su is a 45-year-old woman from Thailand. She lives in Mae Pa, Tak Province, Thailand with her husband and their twelve-year-old son. In her free time, Su enjoys growing vegetables in her garden and getting together with her friends. Su first noticed symptoms related to her health condition three years ago when she experienced severe abdominal pain. Su underwent an ultrasound and was told that she had a stone in her liver. In January 2019, Su’s severe abdominal pain returned. In May 2019, Su underwent a CT scan at Mae Sot Hospital and the doctor confirmed that Su has a bile duct stone. Su has been advised to undergo a cholecystectomy, the surgical removal of the gallbladder. If left untreated, Su's symptoms will continue to worsen and put her at risk for further health complications in the future. After seeking treatment through our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund (BCMF), Su is scheduled to undergo her cholecystectomy on June 10. BCMF is requesting $1,500 to cover the total cost of Su's procedure and care. Su says, "I have recently begun to experience pain in my right leg that makes it uncomfortable for me to walk."

Kerhi is a student from Haiti. He lives with his parents and two brothers in Gonaives, a city on the west coast of Haiti. His father is a bus driver, and his mother works in the market. He is in the fifth grade and enjoys math and science. Kerhi has a cardiac condition called patent ductus arteriosus. A blood vessel between the pulmonary artery and the aorta that normally closes soon after birth instead remains open. Blood flows through it, bypassing the lungs and depriving the body of the oxygen it needs. Kerhi underwent a surgery two years ago to tie off the duct, but unfortunately the defect has re-opened; he will now undergo a different type of procedure called cardiac catheterization to close it in a way that makes it very unlikely to ever reopen again. Kerhi will fly to the United States to receive treatment. On May 2, he will undergo cardiac surgery, during which surgeons will use a device attached to the tip of a catheter to block the leaking duct. Another organization, Gift of Life New York, is contributing $6,000 to pay for surgery. Kerhi's family also needs help to fund the costs of surgery prep. The $1,500 bill covers labs, medicines, and checkup and followup appointments. It also supports passport obtainment and the social workers from our medical partner, Haiti Cardiac Alliance, who will accompany Kerhi's family overseas. He says, "I am excited to fly on a plane for the first time and visit a new country!"

Win is a 54-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her father, sister, brother-in-law, and two nephews. Since 2016, Win has been experiencing lower abdominal and back pain. She has been diagnosed with an ovarian tumor. She has been advised to undergo a total abdominal hysterectomy, the surgical removal of her uterus and cervix. If left untreated, Win's symptoms will continue to worsen and put her at risk for further health complications in the future. Fortunately, Win is scheduled to undergo her hysterectomy on April 19. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to cover the total cost of her procedure and care. After surgery, Win will no longer experience lower abdominal pain. She will be able to walk again without back pain. Win says, "I am afraid to have surgery but I want to get well so that I will go through it. I hope that after surgery, I will no longer experience the pain."

Nenglanget is a young girl from Tanzania. She is being raised by her mother and grandmother, who work as farmers. Nenglanget's lower leg was accidentally burned by a cooking fire. She was rushed to the hospital and had her wounds treated. Unfortunately, her wounds developed repeated infections. Now, she can no longer walk. Nenglanget needs to undergo an amputation surgery so that she will be able to use a prosthetic leg and have a chance to walk again. Surgery is scheduled for March 5 and will cost $1,035. Nenglanget’s grandmother says, “Please help my granddaughter she can no longer walk due her leg being deformed from the fire.”

Soe is a 35-year-old woman from Thailand. She lives with her husband and youngest son in Mae Sot, Tak Province. Soe has a bile duct stone. Currently, she experiences from back pain as well as lower abdominal pain. Soe has been advised to undergo a cholecystectomy, the surgical removal of the gallbladder. If left untreated, Soe's symptoms will continue to worsen and put her at risk for further health complications in the future. After seeking treatment through our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund (BCMF), Soe is scheduled to undergo her cholecystectomy on February 13. BCMF is requesting $1,500 to cover the total cost of Soe's procedure and care. Soe says, “I want to be healthy and stay happy with my family in my own house.”

Joseph is a farmer and motorbike taxi operator from Kenya. He is a father of four children. On Christmas, Joseph collided with an oncoming vehicle while riding his motorcycle. He sustained fractures of the tibia and femur, as well as a hip injury. He is not able to walk or move and is also in chronic pain. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner can help. On January 12, Joseph will undergo a fracture repair procedure, called an open reduction and internal fixation. This procedure will help him walk easily again. Now, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $1,451 to fund this procedure. Joseph says, “My prayer is to walk out of the hospital with energy and be able to provide for my family. Kindly help me out."

Joyce is a farmer from Kenya. She is a mother of three children. Joyce has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Without treatment, the cancer may spread to other organs. A mastectomy, a surgery to remove breast tissue, has been suggested to rid her body of breast cancer and to prevent the cancer from metastasizing. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $816 to cover the cost of a mastectomy for Joyce. The procedure is scheduled to take place on December 3. After treatment, Joyce will hopefully return to a cancer-free life. Joyce says, “My prayer is to be treated and fight off the cancer. I hope that soon it will be over.”

Catherine is a mother of six from Malawi. She lives with her husband, six kids, and one grandchild. She owns a small farm and enjoys attending church in her free time. Since November of last year, Catherine has been experiencing loss of blood. She has been diagnosed with cervical cancer. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus. Our medical partner, World Altering Medicine, is requesting $650 to fund Catherine's surgery. On October 11, she will undergo gynecological surgery at Nkhoma Hospital, our medical partner's care center. The requested money pays for supplies, medications, and seven nights of hospital stay. She will be happy when her body is healthy again and she can return to caring for her home and family. She says, "I will have peace of mind and good health after this surgery. Thank you so much for this program!"

Aye is a 48-year-old woman from Thailand. She lives with her husband's family in Mae Sot, Tak Province. Since 2013, Aye has been experiencing sharp abdominal and back pain. She has been diagnosed with a myoma. She has been advised to undergo a total abdominal hysterectomy, the surgical removal of her uterus and cervix. If left untreated, Aye's symptoms will continue to worsen and put her at risk for further health complications in the future. Fortunately, Aye is scheduled to undergo her hysterectomy on October 9. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to cover the total cost of her procedure and care. Once recovered, She will no longer experience abdominal or back pain.

Wilson is a laborer from Kenya. He is the third born in a family of three. About three weeks ago, Wilson fell from a house and hit his left leg, causing a small cut. He was taken to a dispensary, where the cut was sutured. Later, he developed severe pain and was diagnosed with a femur fracture. He is not able to walk on his own, and he is in chronic pain. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner can help. On September 11, Wilson will undergo a fracture repair procedure, called an open reduction and internal fixation. This procedure will helo him walk easily again. Now, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $998 to fund this procedure. “I have had so much pain and suffering. I hope Watsi will accept to assist me so that I can be well," says Wilson.
