Nyakairu is a 40-year-old woman from Uganda. She is a mother of three. She owns a retail shop, and her husband is a taxi driver. Nyakairu's three children were all delivered via C-section. She is now pregnant with a fourth child and has been advised to undergo another C-section. She cannot afford the procedure on her own, so she visited our medical partner's care center in search of help. Nyakairu's expected delivery date is April 24. She needs help to fund this $280 procedure. After surgery, she looks forward to resuming work and raising her new baby. Nyakairu says, "After surgery, I will continue with my retail shop as well as taking care of my family."

Birungi is a 27-year-old woman from Uganda. She works as a baker, and she has one eight-year-old child. This child was delivered via C-section. Birungi is now pregnant for the second time and is expecting twins. Due to concerns about possible complications, she has been advised to undergo another C-section. However, she cannot afford the procedure. Birungi's expected delivery date is April 26. She needs help to fund this $280 procedure, which will ensure that both she and her babies are healthy and safe. She says, "After surgery, I will go for a thanksgiving in a church as a way of thanking God for the gift of twins."

Stella is a farmer from Kenya. She plants millet and sorghum. She has five children. Two weeks ago, Stella was crossing a stream when she slid and fell, knocking her hand on a hard surface. She is not able to use her hand and is in pain. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner can help. On April 5, Stella will undergo a fracture repair procedure, called an open reduction and internal fixation. She will be able to work and use her hand easily. Now, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $771 to fund this procedure. “My children have just closed school. They really need me at home. I want to get treated so that I can go home and be with them," says Stella.

Dennis is a child from Tanzania. He started kindergarten this year. Dennis lives with his parents in the eastern region of Tanzania. His father is a mason, and his mother is a housewife who takes care of the family. About three years ago, Dennis tripped a jar of hot porridge and sustained burns on both legs. He developed contractures on his right leg. Currently, the contractures inhibit his movement, making it difficult for Dennis to walk and play with his siblings. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Dennis receive treatment. On March 6, surgeons at their care center will perform a burn contracture release surgery. When treated, he will be able to stretch his knee and walk without difficulty and pain. He will also be able to attend school. Now, his family needs help to fund this $608 procedure.

Phearin is a 42-year-old fisherman from Cambodia. He has four daughters and has been married for ten years. He likes to play with his children and relax at home when not working. Two months ago, he fell on the ground and re-injured his leg that he fractured twenty years ago. He experiences pain and has difficulty walking. When Phearin learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On February 5, surgeons at CSC will perform a debridement procedure to to removed damaged tissue from the wound. Now, Phearin needs help to fund this $262 procedure. He says, "After the operation, I hope I can walk painlessly and can complete my work normally again."

Agonzebwa is a child from Uganda. He is two years old and an only child. He loves eating rice and meat. Agonzebwa's mother is a farmer. His father is a motorcycle taxi driver. For two years, Agonzebwa has had a hydrocele, which is a swelling in a sensitive area. The hydrocele keeps growing in size. Fortunately, on March 7, he will undergo hydrocele repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $185 to fund Agonzebwa's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably. His father says, "My son’s health has been disturbed by this condition for long and I am unable to pay for his treatment. We need help.’’

Namara is a 32-year-old woman from Uganda. She is married and a mother of two girls, who are in school. Her husband works as a driver. Namara used to work in a hotel but has stopped working recently due to her pregnancy. Both of Namara's daughters were born through C-section. Because of her previous scars, her doctor has suggested that she undergo a third C-section to deliver this baby. Now, Namara is scheduled to undergo a C-section on March 15. She needs help raising $280 to pay for the procedure, which should keep both mother and child healthy and safe through delivery. She says, "After surgery I will go for a thanksgiving mass in church and continue taking care of my family."
