Japheth is a pre-schooler from Kenya. He loves attending church. Japheth is the second born in a family of three children. He aspires to be a pastor. His father works as a gardener, while his mother is a housewife. Japheth has clubfoot of his right foot. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. This causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. Fortunately, Japheth traveled to visit our medical partner's care center, AIC Cure International Hospital. There, surgeons will perform clubfoot repair surgery on April 23. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $1,224 to fund Japheth's clubfoot repair. After treatment, he will be able to walk easily. “I am appealing to Watsi to help my son get surgery. My joy would be to see my son walking and playing normally like other children," Japheth’s father says.

Mugabe is a child from Uganda. He is in pre-school and is an only child to his single mother, who works in the local grocery market. Since he was about three months old, Mugabe has had a hydrocele, which is a swelling in a sensitive area. The hydrocele keeps increasing in size and causing discomfort. Fortunately, on March 7, he will undergo hydrocele repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $185 to fund Mugabe's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably. His mother says, "After surgery my son will continue with his studies without anything disturbing him.’’

Mukiza is a farmer from Uganda. He is married and a father of four children. Mukiza and his wife produce food for both home consumption and for sale. For two years, Mukiza has had a left reducible inguinal scrotal hernia. The hernia is increasing in size. If not treated, it may cause pain, discomfort, and tissue twisting or blocking. Fortunately, on February 8, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $249 to fund Mukiza's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably. He says, "I help to have surgery such that after recovery I can continue with my farming and be able to provide my family with enough food for home consumption.’’

Ko is a young student from Thailand. He lives with his parents in Phop Phra, Tak Province. He likes to play football during his free time. On February 6, Ko and his classmates went to a farm to pick chilis. On the way back to school, the students were all crowded into the back of a pickup truck. When they arrived at the school, all the students scrambled to jump out of the truck. In the chaos, someone stepped on the back of Ko’s shirt, causing him to lose his balance and fall out of the truck onto his right arm, fracturing it. Currently, Ko is in pain. His arm has temporarily been put into a splint. With the help of our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, Ko will undergo surgery to reset his fractured bones and ensure proper healing. The procedure is scheduled for February 6 and will cost $1,500. The surgery will help Ko recover from pain so that he can return to school. Ko says, "I hope to have surgery soon so that I will be able to return to school and also after I am fully recovered I can play football with my friends again."
