James, who is 44 years old, is a cold room assistant at a milk processing company in Malawi. James and his wife - who share a five year old child - are separated, and James now lives with his mother.
In early February 2026, James noted on-and-off swelling in his right inguinal region. He decided to take some painkillers, but they provided no relief. In March, he visited a public hospital, where, after assessment, a diagnosis of a right inguinal hernia was made. He was scheduled for surgery in August 2026, as the surgical list was long.
James was prepared to wait until the scheduled date for the necessary, corrective surgery, but the frequency of the swelling episodes increased, causing him more abdominal pain and much discomfort, which have now interfered with his ability to work. James decided to seek treatment at our medical partner’s care facility, Partners in Hope Medical Center (PIH).
Fortunately, on June 8th, James is scheduled to undergo hernia repair surgery at PIH. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $575 to fund James’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently.
“Kindly help me, I don’t want to die or lose my job due to frequent absenteeism; your support will save my life,” said James.
