Matoro is a hardworking farmer from Uganda. He shared that he has three wives and among them 18 children. Matoro’s oldest child is 53-years-old, and his youngest just completed their bachelor’s degree in information science.
15 years ago, Matoro had an inguinal hernia and now he can no longer bend down and has difficulty walking long distances. Fortunately, on September 2nd, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner’s care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $170 to fund Matoro’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently.
Matoro says, “I am in pain and I seek medical assistance. I want to be normal again and continue my day to day activities like I used to before. I wish to continue taking care of myself and my family.”

Matoro underwent hernia repair surgery and is feeling well.
Matoro had a successful herniorrhaphy surgery at Rushoroza Hospital. The surgery reduced his chances of the inguinal hernia worsening and the other complications he was having. Matoro is now confident that he’ll be able to walk normally and comfortably do all his day-to-day activities now, especially looking after his farm and crops. He hopes to live a more productive life now that he finally had surgery.
Matoro told us, “I feel better now and I pray for a quick recovery. I believe I will be able to take care of my fields like I used to before. I thank the donors and Rushoroza hospital for all the efforts in making my surgery a success. May God bless you.”
