Phak is a 43-year-old man from Cambodia who was in a serious motorbike accident this past April that left his foot injured. Phak is from a very rural area. His village’s health center does not have the capacity to perform the surgery he needs, so Phak took a 15 hour bus ride to seek treatment in the city.
Phak has a chronic heel wound that causes him a lot of pain. It is difficult for him to walk and take care of his seven children. If untreated, his wound could likely become infected and require amputation.
A $300 surgery can prevent Phak’s condition from getting worse. Doctors will remove dead tissue in his foot through a procedure called debridement and replace healthy skin over the affected area. Let’s help Phak recover from his accident and live a healthy life!
