Mugema is a student from Uganda. He is eight years old. Mugema and his brothers and sisters are all in primary school. Mugema’s father is a carpenter who makes windows, beds, and doors.
For six years, Mugema has had a bilateral inguinal hernia. If not treated, Mugema may suffer hernia twisting and blocking. Fortunately, on November 8, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner’s care center.
His stepmother says, “Mugema’s health has been disturbed for so long and it affected his performance in class.”
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $249 to fund Mugema’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably.

Mugema underwent hernia repair surgery.
Mugema’s hernia repair and undescended testis repair was a success. He is no longer at risk of strangulation of the hernia or infertility.
Mugema’s stepmother says, “Mugema is getting better although he still has some pain on the surgery sites. I am happy about his surgery because his condition was going to cause him other problems. After his recovery, I hope to get peace of mind and he will not miss school again. I hope his performance will also improve. Thank you very much for the assistance you’ve given us.”
