Sam Neang is a 50-year-old Tuk Tuk driver, who lives with his wife and three children in Cambodia. His wife is a homemaker, caring for their children, who are still in school. After he finishes work for the day, Sam Neang likes playing cards with his friends and spending time with his family. In 2008, a large stone fell on Sam Neang's back. Despite the medications he takes, Sam Neang lives in constant pain and would like to find a way to permanently ease his suffering Sam Neang learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, and sought their help. On February 1st, surgeons at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre will perform an L5-S1 fusion procedure, which will secure Sam Neang's spine, improve his mobility, and decrease his level of pain. Now, Sam Neang needs your help to fund this $1,035 procedure. Sam Neang says: "I don't want to be in pain anymore."

Sovan is a 24-year-old restaurant security guard. He was married last year and is expecting his first child with his wife, who is a seamstress in a local factory. Until his injury, he enjoyed playing volleyball with friends. In February, he was hit by a car while on his motorbike and fractured his left forearm when he fell on the pavement. He did not go to a clinic to be examined because he did not have enough money. Nine months after his injury, he is unable to use his left arm and the broken bone has failed to heal. He has swelling, pain, and tenderness. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On November 22nd, Sovan will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will cost $483. This procedure will finally repair the fracture. With physical therapy after surgery, he can regain strength and range of motion, allowing him to find work again. Sovan shared: "I hope my arm will be fixed, I will no longer be in pain, and I can find a job to support my growing family."

David is a sharp and talkative seven-year-old boy from Kiambu county. David is quick to help answer some of the questions we asked: He has one sibling who he proudly shared is five years old. David's mother is separated from his father and is currently unemployed picking up odd jobs like washing clothes to provide for her children. David loves to play football and was playing with his friends on December 19th when he fell and sustained a fracture. David is experiencing pain and is unable to use his left hand. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), can help. On January 12th, David will undergo a fracture repair procedure called an open reduction and internal fixation. Thanks to this procedure, David will no longer be in pain and will be able to use the left hand for school and play. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping David's family raise $1,049 to fund this procedure. David's mother share, "I hope my son is treated and gets back to school and playing.”
