Veha is a 24-year-old internet technician from Cambodia. He lives in Prey Veng Province with his parents and his younger brother, who is in Grade 9. His father works as a construction worker, and his mother is a rice farmer. In his free time, he enjoys helping his parents in the rice fields. In May 2025, Veha sustained a high-voltage electrical burn while repairing internet cables. An electrical flash from a power line caused severe injuries, leaving him with a wound on the left side of his scalp (left temporal region). Despite previous treatment, the scalp wound has not healed properly and has left the skull bone exposed. He also experiences poor balance when standing and walking, making it difficult to work and carry out everyday activities. When Veha learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for four hours seeking treatment. On July 2nd, surgeons at CSC will perform a debridement procedure to to remove damaged and unhealthy tissue from the scalp wound. This procedure helps clean the wound, reduce the risk of infection, promote healing, and prepare the area for future reconstructive surgery. Veha and his family are able to contribute towards the cost of his treatment, but need help raising $355 more to fund the procedure. His father said, “As his father, I hope this surgery will help his wound heal completely, so he can regain his strength and return to a normal life. We are deeply grateful for this opportunity.”

Akshay is 18 years old and lives in Palamu, Jharkhand, India. He lives with his parents and elder sister. His father is a farmer. He studied until the 8th grade. When Akshay was six months old, he fell into a traditional cooking stove and burned his right hand. The burn caused a contracture, where the skin healed tightly, and over time, his hand became restricted in movement. He has lived with this since he was a baby. The contracture on his right hand makes daily tasks difficult. At 18, with a father who farms and a family that depends on physical work, this has been a real limitation in his day-to-day life. When Akshay learned about our medical partner, G.S. Memorial Plastic Surgery Hospital and Trauma Center, he and his mother traveled 6.5 hours to receive treatment to release the post-burn contracture of his right hand. On July 1st, specialty surgeons will perform a burn contracture release surgery so he can regain function and mobility in his hand. Now, he needs help to fund this $1,442 procedure. Akshay shared, "I want my hand to work properly so that I can help my family."

Yemariam is a social and active 3-year-old from Ethiopia who loves playing with her friends and toys. Her mother works as a secretary at a government institution, and her father works as a driver for a private company. Since birth, Yemariam has had an umbilical hernia, a condition in which tissue pushes through a weakened area around the belly button. Her mother first noticed the swelling shortly after Yemariam was born. The doctors examined her condition and advised the family that she might need surgery in the future if the condition did not resolve on its own. As Yemariam grew older and started attending school, her parents became increasingly concerned about her condition and its impact on her physical and emotional well-being. Her parents searched for a way to get her the surgery she needed. They first took Yemariam to a private hospital. The cost of the procedure was too high, so they visited a nearby health center, where Yemariam was referred to a higher-level government hospital and was placed on a surgery waitlist for the next month. During this time, the hospital referred Yemariam to our medical partner's care center. When Yemariam and her mother arrived, her mother was concerned that her condition was too complicated and she would not be able to receive the treatment she needed. After an assessment, the medical team explained Yemariam's condition and informed her mother that she could undergo surgery. Fortunately, on September 30th, Yemariam will undergo hernia repair surgery. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $512 to fund Yemariam's procedure. Once completed, this surgery will allow her to live more comfortably and confidently. Yemariam's mother said, "Thank you so much to everyone who helped my daughter. I still can't believe it. I thank God for blessing you all. We had been waiting for four to five months, and now my daughter can receive the care she needed.
