Lilian, who is 29 years old, is a mother of one from Kenya. She works whenever casual labor is available, taking on small jobs so she can meet basic needs, and care for her child.
Lilian traces the beginning of her issue to 2003, when she was still a child, playing with her brothers. While jumping from a tree, she cut her thigh. Frightened that her parents would be angry, she kept the injury a secret. A boil later developed in the area, and it would release pus when pressed, before it eventually healed. Over time, however, Lillian noticed a lump in the same area, that continued to enlarge. What began as a childhood secret quietly followed her into adulthood and, eventually, motherhood. Although the mass is not severely painful, it has become a daily burden. Lilian struggles with heavy work, she cannot comfortably walk long distances, and tires easily. These limitations matter deeply, because casual labor is her main means of survival. Just as difficult is the anxiety: she has lived for years watching the growth increase, never knowing what it might become, or whether she would ever be able to afford the care she needs.
Lilian traveled to our medical partner, IcFEM Dreamland Mission Hospital, to receive treatment. On September 7th, surgeons will remove the mass. Now, Lilian needs your help to raise $231 to fund this procedure.
Lilian said: “I pray that the surgery goes well, and that I receive treatment successfully. I thank God for the people who support families like mine.”
