Ruth is 53 years old and a hardworking mother of six from Kenya. She and her husband rely on irregular income, she from casual farming and he from construction work, to support their family. Despite their efforts, meeting basic needs is already a challenge.
For the past two years, Ruth has been living with severe and worsening pain. What began in her legs gradually spread to her hips, making it increasingly difficult for her to carry out daily activities. She sought care at nearby hospitals, but initial tests were inconclusive, and the medications she received provided little relief. Over time, her condition deteriorated to the point where she lost her ability to move independently.
When Ruth arrived at our medical partner’s care center, AIC Kijabe Hospital, in April 2026, doctors conducted further evaluation and diagnosed her with a fractured femur. On June 2nd, Ruth will undergo a fracture repair procedure to relieve her pain and restore her mobility. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,042 to fund this procedure.
Ruth says, “My hip is constantly painful, especially at night. I cannot turn from side to side, so I have to sleep on my back all night, which is very exhausting. I miss being able to walk and care for my family. My greatest hope is to have this surgery so I can regain my mobility, return to work, and help provide for my children once again.”
