Uok is mother of six with eleven grandchildren from Cambodia. She enjoys spending time at home and listening to the monks on the radio.
Three years ago, Uok developed a cataract in each eye, causing her blurry vision, itchiness, and watery eyes. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Uok learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On October 3, doctors will perform small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $398 procedure.
She says, “I hope I can see again.”

Uok underwent cataract surgery.
Uok has returned home after a successful operation. As per her doctor’s instructions, she had one eye done, and will need to return in a few weeks to have surgery on the other eye. After surgery, her vision has been restored in one eye, and she will be able to work and go about her daily life with improved vision. Her doctor looks forward to seeing her again in a couple weeks.
She says, “Thanks for helping me. I look forward to being able to help care for my family.”
