Charles is a 66-year-old man who lives with his wife and five children in Kenya. The family relies on small-scale farming to meet their basic needs.
For the past seven months, Charles has been experiencing pain in his lower abdomen. He sought treatment at several hospitals, but his condition did not improve. Charles was familiar with our partner’s medical care center, Nazareth Hospital, because he had previously brought his mother there and they had had a good experience. He therefore made the difficult decision to again take time away from farming, travelling five hours and staying in a hotel to visit the hospital.
At the hospital, Charles was finally diagnosed with a hernia. If left untreated, the condition may worsen and lead to serious complications, significantly affecting his health, ability to work, and overall quality of life.
Fortunately, on June 4th, Charles will undergo hernia repair surgery. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $517 to fund Charles’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently.
Charles shared, “Life has not been easy. especially bending to work on my land. I request help so that I can be treated and be well to continue supporting my family.”
