Elvin is a 38-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her husband, two daughters and three sons in a refugee camp in Thailand. Her husband works as a community generator operator, while Elvin works as a seamstress. Her children are all school-going. Elvin and her husband’s combined income is often just enough to cover their daily needs. They receive free basic health care in the refugee camp from Malteser International (MI) Thailand.
Elvin is currently expecting her sixth child. Her doctors recommend that she deliver via a caesarean section due to a high-risk pregnancy. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child.
Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is helping Elvin undergo a C-Section on September 4th. This procedure will cost $1,500, and Elvin needs your support.
She says: “My plan and wish are to provide a better future for my children. I want them to have a good life, and the opportunity to live in a better place.”
