Geofrey is a 32-year-old Ugandan farmer who largely plants cassava, alongside his wife.
Three years ago, Geofrey developed abdominal pain and bloating that caused him great discomfort. He went to the nearby health center to seek medical attention, where he was assessed and diagnosed with an umbilical hernia. Medications were given to him to reduce the fluids in his belly, but his pain persisted. Geofrey also took the initiative to go to Kuru Hospital for review, where he was advised that his condition needed to be managed surgically. Due to financial constraints, Geofrey returned home without additional treatment.
Early this year, Geofrey heard about our medical partner’s surgical program and spoke with their community leader about becoming a part of the program. Now Geofrey is scheduled to undergo hernia repair surgery on September 8th at Yumbe Regional Referral Hospital. Our medical partner, Hope Health Action, is requesting $605 to fund Geofrey’s operation, which will greatly improve his quality of life.
Geofrey said, “Thank you to HHA and the donors. I am hopeful and looking forward to returning to my farm after a complete recovery.”
