Salome is a 77-year-old woman from Uganda. She is the sole provider and guardian for an 11-year-old girl, a young relative sent to care for her. Three decades ago, she lost her husband. In a heartbreaking twist of fate, all the children they shared also passed away. Salome is a small-scale farmer.
One year ago, a swelling on her neck appeared. It grew bigger and has affected her ability to work on her farm. Doctors discovered that Salome has a large cystic mass in her neck.
Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, can help. Salome traveled to our medical partner’s care center, Rushoroza Hospital, to receive treatment. On October 1st, surgeons will remove the mass. Now, Salome needs help to raise $261 to fund this procedure.
Salome says, “My life has been full of darkness since I lost my husband and all my children. This little girl is the only family I have left, and she needs me to put her through school. But this swelling in my neck has taken away the little strength I had left to dig for our food. When they told me the cost of the surgery, my heart broke because I do not even have a single coin. I am begging the kind donors to please help me get this operation. I want to be free of this pain so I can go back to my farming and weaving, and ensure this young girl has a future. Please do not leave me to suffer alone.”
