Chhun is a potato farmer from Cambodia. She has three daughters, three sons, and eight grandchildren. She likes to watch boxing matches and look after her grandchildren.
Four years ago, Chhun developed a cataract in each eye, causing her blurry vision, tearing, and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Chhun learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for four hours seeking treatment. On June 5, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $398 procedure.
She says, “I hope my vision is restored so I can continue my work as a farmer and support my family. I hope to lead an independent life.”
