Tumuhairwe is a 55-year-old farmer and a mother of 6 children, and makes a living from farming together with her husband.
For the past 8 months, Tumahairwe has been experiencing abnormal bleeding and abdominal and back pains, especially when she does strenuous activities.
Tumahairwe has been diagnosed with a premalignant cervical lesion. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus. The treatment would help reduce the chances of developing cervical cancer. However, due to financial struggles, she is not able to meet the cost of her care.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $219 to fund Tumuhairwe’s surgery. On March 9th, she will undergo gynecological surgery at our medical partner’s care center. Once recovered, Tumuhairwe will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain.
Tumuhairwe shared, “I hope to get relief from my condition when I am considered for surgery with your support. I will continue with farming once I have fully recovered.”
