Siv Hak is a 19-year-old man from Cambodia who lives with his parents and two siblings in Kampot Province. His parents and older brother work in a garment factory, while his younger sister is in Grade 7. Siv Hak is not currently working, and enjoys listening to music and playing games in his free time. Siv Hak has had back and hip problems since 2018 that gradually worsened over time. Investigations later found osteomyelitis and discitis with spinal narrowing. After undergoing spinal fusion surgery in August 2026, the surgical wound on his back broke down and developed an infection. The wound breakdown and infection require further treatment. He currently has no sensation in both legs, which affects his mobility and ability to manage his daily activities independently. When Siv Hak learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On September 11th, surgeons at CSC will perform a debridement procedure to remove damaged and infected tissue from his back wound and help create a cleaner environment for healing. It is an important step in treating the wound infection and supporting his ongoing recovery. Now, Siv Hak's family needs help to fund this $417 procedure. He said, “I hope today’s surgery will clean the wound on my back and help it heal properly. I am looking forward to recovering from this infection and becoming more comfortable and independent in my daily life.”

Daniel is a six-year-old boy from Malawi. He is the youngest of four children. His single mother is raising him following the loss of her husband. Daniel’s mother sells soap to support the family, while the eldest child does casual work in town to help provide for the family’s needs. For two years, Daniel has had a hydrocele, a condition that causes swelling and discomfort in a sensitive area of his body. Over time, the swelling increased and caused Daniel worsening discomfort, making it increasingly difficult for him to carry out his daily activities. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, can help. On September 9th, Daniel will undergo hydrocele repair surgery. Daniel’s mother is hopeful that the surgery will relieve his discomfort, improve his daily activities, and allow him to live a healthier and more comfortable life. He needs help raising $627 to fund his surgery and care. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. Daniel's mother shared, "My child usually cries because of the pain. He does not look happy at all; kindly help me as we have waited for so long. This is my rare opportunity for my child to be supported."

Pon is a 61-year-old rice farmer from Prey Veng province in Cambodia. He is married with one son, one daughter and five grandchildren. He lives with his wife who is also a rice farmer. His daughter is a garment worker and his son is a construction worker. He likes to listen to the news and the monks praying on the radio. About two years ago, Pon developed a cataract in his right eye, causing him itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye, so it is like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so is not able to go places on his own. When Pon learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On May 18th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $263 procedure. Pon said: "I hope that after surgery my eye can see better, so I can easily go back to growing rice, and venture outside well."
