Blessing is an energetic kid whose favorite thing in the world is to play soccer. Unfortunately, a simple soccer accident is now threatening to sidetrack the rest of his life. Blessing was playing soccer with his friends when he fell and fractured his left elbow. His friends, who are just small 9-year-old boys themselves, put their strength together and carried him all the way home.
The excruciating pain their son was in immediately alarmed Blessing’s parents, and they rushed him to the nearest clinic. His arm was put in a cast, but when the cast was removed a month later it was clear that the bone had healed badly. As a result, Blessing lost the ability to extend his arm all the way out.
Quality medical care is hard to come by in Zambia. Despite his family’s best efforts, Blessing has been unable to receive treatment that will give him back the use of his arm. They are repeatedly told that there is nothing more to do, and that Blessing will just have to live with a permanent disability because of his soccer accident.
Recently, Blessing’s parents heard about CURE’s hospital in Zambia and decided to give it a try. After examining Blessing, surgeons at CURE are confident they can fully restore the use of his arm. Blessing’s parents have already spent everything they have on his medical expenses. We need to raise $1000 to cover the cost of this surgery, so Blessing can go back to living a happy and healthy life.
