Brian was born with cervical hygroma, a malformation of the lymphatic system that causes a mass to form on the neck. His arm was put in a cast, but when the cast was removed a month later it was clear that the bone had healed badly. As a result, Blessing lost the ability to extend his arm all the way out. Quality medical care is hard to come by in Zambia. Despite his family’s best efforts, Blessing has been unable to receive treatment that will give him back the use of his arm. They are repeatedly told that there is nothing more to do, and that Blessing will just have to live with a permanent disability because of his soccer accident. Recently, Blessing’s parents heard about CURE’s hospital in Zambia and decided to give it a try. After examining Blessing, surgeons at CURE are confident they can fully restore the use of his arm.
