Win is a 47-year-old man from Burma. He lives with his wife and four children in Thailand and has been unemployed for the past six months due to his health condition. His wife is a homemaker, and three of his children are students. One of his daughters works part-time as a sales assistant in a supermarket, but the combined income is not sufficient to cover the expenses of the family.
Currently, Win continues to experience abdominal discomfort, fatigue, and yellowing of the eyes. Win was diagnosed with gallstones and needs to undergo a cholecystectomy, the surgical removal of the gallbladder. If left untreated, Win’s symptoms will continue to worsen and put him at risk for further health complications in the future.
After seeking treatment through our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, Win is scheduled to undergo his cholecystectomy on June 30th. BCMF is requesting $1,500 to cover the total cost of Win’s procedure and care.
Win says, “I feel guilty having to rely on my daughter for money. I want to be independent and return to work to support my children to be educated people to avoid doing labour work when they grow up, and I just want to help my family out when I feel better.”
