Kimlay is six years old and in the second grade. She likes to play with toys and games and watch cartoons on TV.
Since she was eight months old, Kimlay has had a type of strabismus called exotropia in her left eye. This condition causes her eye to turn outward. She has difficulty seeing, and she is shy around her friends.
When Kimlay’s parents learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, they traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On November 3, doctors performed a corrective eye surgery. After recovery, Kimlay’s vision will improve. Now, her family needs help to fund this $264 procedure.
“I hope my daughter…does well in school and has a better life in the future,” says Kimlay’s mother.

Kimlay underwent successful eye surgery.
She was given eye drops to use four times per day in order to reduce inflammation. Kimlay’s vision has improved, and she feels more comfortable.
Kimlay’s mother says, “I am happy that my daughter looks better and her eye is normal now. I am thankful to the doctors and staff that helped with her surgery. She won’t be shy around others when she grows up, and she will have a better life in the future.”
