“Bora likes to play basketball, and can’t help dancing when he hears Khmer pop songs come on the radio,” our partners at the Children’s Surgical Centre in Cambodia tell us.
Meet Bora, a 17-year-old boy who has been living with a meningoencephalocele (MEC) since he was born. A MEC is an sac of fluid, brain tissue, and meninges (membranes that cover the brain and spinal cord) that extends out of the skull. He was treated when he was younger but he still experiences frequent headaches and uncontrollable tears. His family supports him, however they are unable to afford proper treatment to repair his MEC.
For $390 this treatment will be provided. “Bora will no longer have a bulge on his face and his headaches and uncontrollable tearing should stop,” say our partners at the Children’s Surgical Centre.
Let’s help Bora live pain-free!
