Florence is a high school student from Kenya. Her parents are peasant farmers in the village with limited income to cater for the needs of Florence and her five siblings. Florence has complained of a painful left thumb swell for the last four years. She is not able to utilize her hand fully especially in doing household chores. If not treated, the swell might persist affecting her daily life further.
Florence had not been to any hospital but as the swell worsened, her parents brought her to our facility. She was diagnosed with soft tissue tumour and excision recommended. The surgery will allow Florence to utilize her hand with ease and reduce the chances of further complications. She is not able to raise the funds needed for surgery.
Florence traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On December 17th, surgeons will remove the mass. Now, Florence needs help to raise $187 to fund this procedure.
Florence’s mother says, “I hope that my daughter becomes relieved of this condition to have a better lifestyle. I will continue to cultivate so as to support her education.”
