“After Oeun receives treatment she is excited to have a good looking face again and get back out to the farm,” says our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC).
Oeun is a 44-year-old mother in Cambodia who has been diagnosed with ptosis, or “drooping of the eyelid”. She has four sons and likes to listen to the news in the evenings.
“About two and a half years ago, Oeun was accidentally hit with a piece of wood on her right eye, and now she cannot fully open her right eyelid,” says CSC. “She has blurry vision and it is hard for her to see things clearly. […] Since her vision has been bad, she has been staying home and doing house work.”
Oeun’s condition also affects her appearance, as one of her eyes is open while the other one droops. $290 will fund the treatment necessary to correct Oeun’s ptosis. Our medical partners expect that the treatment will allow her to keep her eye fully open and have the ability to see clearly.
Let’s help Oeun regain her vision and her independence!
