Gershom is a bright 14-year-old from Malawi. He is the oldest among three children. He is a very intelligent form one student enrolled in a national secondary school. Gershom likes joking with his siblings and enjoys eating good food.
Three years ago, Gershom was diagnosed with Bilateral Inguinal Hernia. Gershom revealed that he started feeling something moving in his inguinal region, but since it was for a short time, he did not tell his parents about it. Gershom stated that it was not painful, so he endured the discomfort since he did not want to miss classes. In February 2025, while at school, Gershom’s condition worsened that he could no longer hide the overwhelming abdominal pains.
Gershom was referred to our medical partner’s care center, Partners in Hope Medical Center. On June 11th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery, and our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $575 to fund Gershom’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently.
Gershom shared, “I just want to go back to school to concentrate on my education and also be able to play with friends.”
