Yoeng is a corn and rice farmer from Cambodia. She has two sons and six grandchildren. She now lives with her sister. She enjoys listening to monks pray and listening to social programs on the radio.
Three months ago, Yoeng developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her blurred vision, tearing, and clouded lens. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Yoeng learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On March 8, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure.
Her sister said, “I hope my sister’s surgery is successful so she can easily to do her work and lead an independent life again. I have been worried about her vision loss.”
