Adriana is a seven-year-old girl from Colombia. Approximately one year ago, she was first evaluated by a pediatric dentist, who diagnosed multiple deep dental cavities. Since then, she has been under ongoing observation. However, the progression of the disease has led to inflammation, the presence of pus, and difficulty eating. Although Adriana isn't currently experiencing any pain, her condition significantly impairs her physical and functional development. The management process of Adriana's condition has been complex, and it was ultimately determined that treatment must be performed under general anesthesia due to the number of affected teeth and the patient’s young age. Fortunately, Adriana will receive treatment from our medical partner, Clínica Noel, on April 20th. They are requesting $1,109 to cover the cost of her treatment. This will not only alleviate Adriana's physical pain but will also significantly contribute to restoring her quality of life and overall development. Adriana's mother shares, "As a mother, my greatest hope is that my daughter can improve her quality of life, grow up to be a healthy child, become more independent, and have better opportunities for her future. We are currently seeking support to access the treatment she needs, in the hope of providing her with a fuller, more dignified life and greater opportunities for development. We are fully confident that, with the right help, her treatment will be successful and she will make a full recovery. Say is a 26-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her husband and daughter in a refugee camp in Mae Hong Son Province, Thailand. She is a homemaker, and her husband works as a day labourer outside of the camp. Say weaves traditional Karen dresses to help earn extra income. Often, their income is not enough to cover their daily needs, and they have to purchase groceries on credit, paying them back when they have money. Say is currently expecting her second child. Her doctors recommend that she deliver via a caesarean section due to a high-risk pregnancy. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, Burma Children's Medical Fund, is helping Say undergo a C-Section on March 8th. This procedure will cost $1500, and Say needs your support. Say says, “I would love to have either a boy or a girl. When my children are older, I would like to attend midwife classes in the refugee camp and work as a midwife at the camp hospital.”

Catherine is a 62-year-old farmer from Malawi, and a mother of two. She lives alone in a village in rural Lilongwe, with her two children having grown up and now living independently. Life has not been easy this year. With little money to buy fertilizer, her harvest was poor. The crops she managed to grow are only enough to feed her, with nothing left to sell for income. Still, she continued working because she has no one else to depend on for her daily needs. Since January this year, Catherine has been experiencing severe abdominal pain which has made it difficult for her to work, rest, or move comfortably. At first, she thought he condition was gastritis. Even when she sought medical help, she was only given paracetamol to ease the pain, but the relief never lasted. Eventually, she was diagnosed with an epigastric hernia, which is a bulge that occurs in the upper abdomen, caused by tissue pushing through weak abdominal muscle. Presently, the pain has slowed her down, taking away the strength she needs to take care of herself. Full of hope, she went to our medical partner's care center, Nkhoma Hospital, where surgery has been recommended to treat her condition. While hearing this gave her hope, the cost of the procedure was far beyond what she could afford. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Catherine receive treatment. On May 13th, she will undergo hernia repair surgery at Nkhoma Hospital. For Catherine, this surgery means more than relief from pain. It means being able to continue caring for herself, tending to her land, and living with independence. Catherine is able to contribute towards the cost of her treatment, but needs help raising $421 to fund the procedure. Catherine says, “If I become too sick to work, there is no one else to help with my daily activities. I have to remain strong so I can continue living and taking care of myself. I am hoping for help because this surgery will give me a chance to live without this pain.”
