21-year-old Pov is married and lives with her husband in Cambodia. She works selling soft drinks and enjoys listening to classical music, watching Thai dramas on TV, and weaving pictures.
“Three months ago, Pov developed a chalazion on her left eye,” our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC) tells us. A chalazion is a slow-growing inflammatory lump in the tear gland of the eyelid. “The cyst in her eyelid causes her irritation, some pain, and she believes she is bad-looking.”
Pov and her sister traveled four hours to reach CSC for her treatment. After the removal of the chalazion, which costs $150, “her pain and irritation will be relieved and her eye will look much better,” says CSC.
“I don’t feel comfortable working because it is hard to open my eyelid without pain,” Pov shares. “I hope my eyelid is good-looking and not irritated anymore, and that I feel comfortable to do any work very well.”
