Cheara is a 35-year-old father from Cambodia. He repairs motorcycles to support his family. His wife helps him in the shop. Together, he and his wife have three daughters. In his free time, Cheara enjoys helping his daughters with their homework. Cheara shared that he has had an abnormal posture in his spine since he was ten years old. Our surgeons have diagnosed him with kyphoscoliosis, which includes both kyphosis and scoliosis. This condition results in excessive outward curvature of the upper spine (kyphosis), causing a rounded or hunched back, along with a sideways curvature of the spine (scoliosis), often forming an "S" or "C" shape when viewed from behind. He experiences back pain when lifting heavy objects, some chest tightness, and shortness of breath when going upstairs or running. Fortunately, our medical partner, the Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), can help. On September 4th, specialty surgeons will perform surgery to fuse the vertebrae in the thoracic and lumbar regions of Cheara’s spine, aiming to correct his spinal alignment. Now, Cheara and his wife need your help to raise $1,500 to cover the costs of the surgery, hospitalization, implants, post-operative medication, and physiotherapy. This surgery will help alleviate his back pain, chest tightness, and shortness of breath, significantly improving his quality of life. Cheara shared, "I wish I could work without pain and improve my posture so that I can feel more comfortable meeting with my customers."

Menghak is a 17-year-old who lives with his parents and two siblings in Kandal province in Cambodia. His parents sell food from a mobile cart at a factory, his older brother works as a truck driver, and his youngest sister is still in school. He dropped out of school after grade 10 to help his parents sell food. At home, he enjoys eating curry rice and checking the news on his phone. In January 2024, Menghak was involved in a motorcycle accident and landed heavily on his left hand, causing a traumatic bony angular deformity in his left forearm. This injury has severely limited his ability to rotate his palm, particularly when trying to turn it downward. As a result, Menghak struggles to use his left hand effectively and perform any tasks. Fortunately, a neighbor told Menghak about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre. He and his parents traveled for one and a half hours for a consultation. On June 20th, Menghak will undergo an osteotomy, a procedure where his arm bone will be reshaped to improve the mobility of his hand and prevent future pain. Menghak's family was able to contribute $100 towards his medical costs but needs help raising $369 more to fund the procedure and post-op care. Menghak said: "I hope I can use my hand easily again, so I can help my parents."

Angel is a four-year-old girl from Kenya. She is the second born in her family. Her father is a waiter in a small hotel in their village, while her mother stays home. Angel was born with clubfoot on both feet, a condition that makes it difficult for her to walk. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. This causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. She began treatment soon after birth, starting with serial casting to correct her feet. Unfortunately, the family had to stop the follow-up treatments because they could not afford the transport costs as the hospital was far from their home. They recently heard about our medical partner's care center, Cure Hospital, and sought treatment there. Angel has been in the hospital undergoing serial casting to prepare her for surgery. On September 24th, surgeons will perform clubfoot repair surgery, and our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,286 to fund the treatment. After treatment, Angel will be able to stand upright, play, walk, and run like other children. Angel's mother shared, " I am looking forward to her healing quickly and walking like other children, which will be my joy."
