The is a 75-year-old grandmother living in Cambodia with her husband, two sons, daughter, and seven grandchildren. She enjoys visiting the pagoda to listen to the monks pray.
Two years ago, The developed blurred vision and tearing in both eyes. She has been unable to do her work well, see clearly, or travel independently to the pagoda. She traveled with her sister to our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, for further evaluation.
The’s doctors at CSC have recommended surgical intervention to alleviate her symptoms. They proposed a small incision cataract surgery (SCIS) and an intraocular lens implant (IOL) in each eye, which will replace her internal lenses with artificial lenses, and restore her vision to full clarity. In total, the procedure, supplies, drugs, and three days of inpatient care will cost $225.
After full recovery, The will have regained clear vision, and be able to do her work independently. She will also be able to visit the pagoda on her own.

75-year-old The is from Cambodia and a mother of two sons, one daughter, and seven grandchildren. Two years ago, The developed a cataract in each eye, which caused her blurred vision and tearing, and extreme sensitivity to light.
After traveling to Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), The received cataract surgery in both of her eyes, restoring her vision entirely! Today The says she feels much more comfortable, the tearing has stopped, and she can finally see clearly again.
“I feel very happy,” shares The, “I can see everything clear again so I can easily do any work and I can go anywhere outside well by myself without needing to disturb another person to take care of me.”
