Nhe is a 30-year-old father who lives in Kampong Cham, Cambodia, with his wife, two children, and mother in-law. His children are 5 and 10 years old and study at a nearby school. In his free time, Nhe plays soccer with his friends in the village and spends time with his family. In June 2023, Nhe's hands were badly burned by an electric shock while on a construction job. His left hand was severely damaged. He has limited function in his hand and arm, muscle atrophy, and has not been able to return to work. When Nhe learned about our medical partner Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled 5 hours to seek treatment. On December 7th, surgeons at CSC will perform a nerve and tendon repair procedure. This procedure will help him restore function in his hand. Nhe and his family are able to contribute towards the cost of his treatment and need help raising $572 to fund the operation and his post-op care, including physiotherapy. He shared, "I hope I can move my hand again and go back to work to support my family."

Lucia is a baby from southern Bolivia. Her mother stays home with her, and her father is a delivery driver. Lucia was born with a heart condition called coarctation of the aorta. A major blood vessel leading to the heart is too small, which leaves Lucia weak and unable to properly grow. Additionally, she has turner syndrome. Lucia needs surgery to open the aorta to its full size. This will allow blood to flow more easily so she can grow up healthy. Lucia's mother states: "Our family is so happy to know that our daughter can finally have this surgery; we have been hoping for this opportunity since she was born."

11-year-old Ryan lives with his mother and three siblings in Malawi. His parents are separated, and the family depends on Ryan's mother - who sells vegetables - to support their family financially. Since he was born, Ryan has been experiencing a painful swelling in a sensitive area. The swelling disappears for periods of time, but is followed by abdominal pain and fever. His mother has taken him to different health centers, where he was given medication, which didn't ultimately help. Finally, he was seen by a surgeon who was conducting a free clinic at their nearby health center who diagnosed Ryan with a left inguinal hernia. Ryan is now scheduled to undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center Nkhoma Hospital on February 7th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is seeking your help to raise the $421 needed to fund his procedure, without which Ryan will be unable to continue his schooling without interruption, and he'll continue to face potential health complications. Ryan’s mother says: “I am looking forward to seeing my son free of this condition so that he can focus on school.”
