Velina works as a caretaker for children and also does odd cleaning and washing jobs. She is 68 and lives with her husband, a salesman in a mechanic shop, in Haiti. When at home, Velina loves to cook.
A while ago, Velina noticed a bump on her breast and went to see a doctor, who did a biopsy. The biopsy showed breast cancer.
Our medical partner, Project Medishare of Haiti, tells us, “Velina has had surgery; she needs chemotherapy to finish her treatment. The chemotherapy sessions she will have to take will give her big chances to complete the treatment and to be cured because if she does not take chemo she will have to start over.” They add, “her breast is painful sometimes and she does not feel comfortable; this mentally affects her.”
Velina is worried because she cannot pay for the chemotherapy she needs, which will cost $1000. Together, we can raise this money for her. Your donation will help Velina beat cancer once and for all!

Velina received treatment for breast cancer.
The chemotherapy was successful!
“Velina is doing well, the treatment is a success and Velina explained that she is okay and does not feel painful anymore,” Velina’s doctor at Project Medishare writes. “Now she is able to save her life. The cancer won’t kill her and now she is able to talk and work on her projects.”
“I felt discomfort but after one week everything came back to normal and I felt good,” Velina says. “I want to thank God for the opportunity he gave me to find you at this hospital; this has led me to Watsi in order to find the treatment for my situation. Thank you very much, God bless you. I am excited to rejoin my family. My plan is to open a small business for commerce. I lost my job when I became sick, now I don’t have any occupation. I wish to create something to do.”
