Naw Sar is a volunteer teacher who lives with her friends in a school dormitory in a village in Karen State, Burma. She has been teaching for two years. In exchange for her work, Naw Sar receives food and accommodation. In her free time, she loves listening to music and spending time with friends and students in the village.
Naw Sar traveled for a training in January. The following day, she began experiencing stomach pain and went to a local clinic for tests, where she received some medications. However, her condition did not improve. Two days later, her friend brought her to Mae Sot Hospital, where she had an ultrasound, chest x-ray, and a CT scan. The doctors diagnosed her with appendicitis and told her she needs emergency surgery for an appendectomy.
Currently, Naw Sar is in severe pain in her lower abdomen and has vomited several times. She needs support to cover the cost of her urgent surgery and treatment.
Naw Sar’s friend said, “Thank you for helping her and if without the organization and the donors, we do not know where to look for support for her and we also cannot help her as a friend. This support really means a lot to us and especially for her.”

Sar’s urgent surgery was a success! Before undergoing this procedure, Sar had severe lower abdominal pain, experienced frequent vomiting, was unable to walk or eat due to pain, and had trouble sleeping. Now, after the surgery, Sar is happy to share that she is no longer in pain and she is free from all her worrisome symptoms. Sar looks forward to the future and plans to return to her school to continue teaching.
Sar said, “Thank you to the donors for helping me. This kind of disease happened to me too, so suddenly that I hadn’t prepared anything for my treatment costs. Without the support from you, I don’t know what to do. Thank you to all the individual donors from the bottom of my heart for your helping hands.” Sar’s friend added, “Thank you very much for helping her. Without your organization and your donors, we do not know where we could find support for her, and I feel like your organization and the donors are the savior for her.”
